CASology: Note and Paper Smooches Sparks iPicture Perfect

Hello Everyone,
I am just going to get this one in under the wire for Paper Smooches. This week their challenge is a photo inspiration:

I Love the colours and that is the inspiration I drew from the photo for my card. When I stopped by CASology and saw that the cue card was "note", an idea popped into my head. A little while ago I was going through all my dies and found some that I had put away and forgotten about. One among the stash was this envelope from WPlus 9. It is from a set called "Love Notes". So I decided to combine the two challenges.

I used inlaid die-cutting. I cut the envelopes out of the card base and coloured them with my copic markers: I used an RV, YR, and a BG. I wanted the envelopes to dance across the page the way the banners do in the photo. I embedded the envelopes back in and then stamped the "hello" across the top. This sentiment comes from the Scripty Sayings set from Paper Smooches. I really love the way the card turned out.

Thanks for popping by and, as always, I love to hear your feedback!

Muse and Virginia's View Too!

Hello Everyone,
Just had to play a little more with some homemade stencils and my new Altenew stamps. I stopped by Muse and saw Therese's amazing card and knew that I had to play along. I was inspired by her fade-away background and bold banner. Over at Virginia's View it is all about stencils; I made another stencil using a transparency and PTI's hexagon coverplate die.

On the first card, I sponged the background with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink. I then stamped the sentiment in Versfine on Vellum - I love this new set from Altenew. If you haven't checked them out you must. I wrapped the vellum banner around the card and popped it up on dimensionals. When I was finished, I wasn't sure if I liked - I think maybe the background looks too washed out. So, I decided to do a second version.

This time I sponged with Peacock Feathers, Mowed Lawn and Broken China Distress inks. I stamped the sentiment in the same way as the last card, but clear embossed the it so I wouldn't have to worry about it smudging. I framed it in black and adhered it to the cardbase. Now, I am not sure which I like better. It is amazing to me that a few changes can make such a difference.

Thanks for stopping by and let me know what you think!

Virginia's View: Stencils

Hello Everyone,
A while ago I took the Online Card Class, Stenciled and was thrilled to be introduced to the versatility of this amzing new trend in card-making. I didn't have my own stencils, so I made my own using some overhead transparencies I no longer use in the classroom. I thought I had run out of these, but found a whole box in the back of my classroom cupboard; so, when I saw that the challenge over at Virgina's View was to use stencils, I knew that I had to make some more.

I cut a pice of transparency to be slightly larger than an A2 card front and die cut the flower using a Penny Black die. I love this die - daisies are my favourite flower. I taped my "stencil" down over my card stock using painters tape and sponged in the colours. I used Hero Arts Cup O' Joe, Picked Raspberry Distress ink, Ripe Persimmon Distress Ink and Mowed Lawn Distress ink. The sentiment is from the new Altenew stamp company run by Jennifer Rzasa and Tasnim Ahmed. I love the stamps in their first release and purchased the set "Super Script". When I got I was thrilled with the way it looked, but was worried when I examined the stamps more closely because they are not very deeply etched. I thought I would have some trouble inking and getting a clean image - WRONG! They are amazing - they ink up and stamp beautifully. I can't wait to be in a position to buy more - they have such unique designs. The sentiment is stamped in Cup O' Joe as well.

I decided  to mount it on a dark chocolate cardbase (Early Espresso - SU) and then I felt it needed something around the edge. At First, I was going to channel my inner Kristina Werner and add white dash lines, but I changed my mind and doodled a white frame instead. I am thrilled with the final result. Thanks so much for stopping by - I love to hear your feedback.

Muse 62: CASEing Vicki Dutcher

Hello Everyone,
I checked in over at Muse and was thrilled to see the beautiful card by Vicki Dutcher. I love the bold flower and the "fabulous" sentiment. It made me think of PTI's Rosie Posie stamp set right away.

I was going to make this a one-layer card, but I messed oup on the stamping, so I had to stamp the flower and die-cut it and popped it up to cover my mistake. I still think it is very CAS. I don't have much in the way of ribbon, so instead I added some scoring to mimick the ribbon embellishment that Vicki used. The sentiment is from Neat and Tangled's Kindness Matters set. I am really happy with the way this card turned out. Thanks for the inspiration Vicki!

To leave off , I am adding a picture of my kitty Phatcat - Boy does she know how to relax!

Paper Smooches Sparks Anything Goes

Hello Everyone,
I am getting this entry in to the Paper Smooches Sparks Anything Goes Challenge just under the wire! This has been a very busy week and I have not been in my stamp studio  at all. It was so nice to go in and play this morning.

Today's card is inspired by a wine glass! My brother bought two of these beautifully hand-painted wine glasses for my birthday a while ago. I love the bright colours and gold accents. When I sat down to have my glass of wine last evening, I looked at the wine glass and thought of this card. For the focal panel, I masked off the outside edges with post-it tape and sponged the middle with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink - wait, I embossed the "Hello" first with gold EP. That sentiment in from the new PS set called Scripty Sayings. Next, I masked off the middle portion and sponged Peacock Feathers Distress Ink along the top and bottom edge. In the remaining white stripes, I stamped using a border from CAS-ual Friday's Countdown stamp set. I used the delicious Tsukineko Delicata gold ink for this. Finally, I covered a piece of scrap white cardstock with Delicata ink and die cut the Friend sentiment from it. I also used this die to cut three others from a bright pink cardstock that matches the Picked Raspberry. I layered these with the gold layer on top. I am thrilled with the way the card turned out. It was very difficult to photograph, so the colours are a little duller in the photo than they are in real life. In the phot of the wine glass the broad pink stripe looks red, but it is hot pink in real life.

That's all for now. Thanks for stopping by - I love to hear your feedback!

Top Tangle and the new Little Tangles Challenge: Masking

Hello Everyone,
I am thrilled that this card/envelope set I made for the Little Tangles Challenge was chosen as Top Tangle! YAY! If you are not familiar with this challenge or this stamp company, you really have to check them out.

This week the theme over at Little Tangles is "Masking". So I am giving that theme a bit of a twist. I made these two cards:

The pinkish coloured one is a little hard to see because I used Perfect Pearls on it and it was a little glary under the lighting. Here is a better pic of each card.
I used Neat and Tangled's "Just Thinking of You" stamp set. I love this little set - the sketchy thought bubble doubles nicely as a cloud and the scripty sentiment is just fab! The masking I did is not traditional masking. In both cards I stamped the sentiment and thought bubbled then heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. The embossing powder acts as a mask to protect the stamping from the watercolour technique. Essentially, I scribbled different colours of Distress markers over the watercolour paper and then spritzed liberally with water. For the pink blend I used Picked Raspberry, Ripe Persimmon, Squeezed Lemonade, and Festive Berries - I also used some Perfect Pearls mixed itno the water. For the bluesy card I used Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, and Evergreen Bough. I really love the way each of these turned out. Both cards are 4bar sized (3.5 x 5).

Hope you like what you see - I love to hear your feedback!

Paper Smooches Sparks Anything Goes

Hello Everyone,
I have another entry for the Paper Smooches Sparks Anything Goes challenge. I mentioned in my previous post that I just received an order from Paper Smooches and I just can't stop playing with my new goodies. For this card I used the new "Hooties" stamp set, the Hello word dies, and the new Quotables dies. I just LOVE all of these - so much versatility and cuteness to boot!

I coloured the lovely Hootella with some BG copics and added some lashes to her eyes - she wanted to glam up a bit, so she also has some Wink of Stella eye glitter! I die cut the quotables speech bubble from Bermuda Bay cardstock (SU!) and then cut four "hellos" from the scrap. I layered these one on top of the other and topped it all off with a white hello. I love the dimension this gives.  Hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by. I love hearing your feedback!
