Hello Everyone,
Here is my second bit of homework. This card is inspired by the card that Laura Bassen created. I loved her card (let's be honest, I love all her cards). I was excited to try this style as it is not one that is in my comfort zone. The technique is layering stamps. Essentially you stamp a background stamp and then layer other stamps on top. I used Hero Arts "Number Pattern" and stamped it in Soft Granite - I think this ink is actually a little too dark for this technique, but it was the lightest I had. Nest, I stamped the sentiment which is from the Hero Arts Set "Fancy Basics" - I think this bold Happy Birthday really works; I used Ranger Jet Black Archival ink for this. Lastly, I stamped the balloons in Hero Arts Neon inks (blue, pink, and orange). I double stamped these to make sure to get a nice saturated colour that would pop off the background. I hand drew the balloon strings.
Anyway, overall I am pleased with the result and am glad I stepped outside my style comfort zone. Thanks for stopping by - I love to hear your feedback!
Happy Stamping,
Meg
I think you did a great job! I tried the soft granite, and I too, thought it was too dark. I ended up using a different gray color. I really like to bold sentiment. I think that really makes this technique work.
ReplyDeleteLove the pop of color that the balloons provide, fun card!
ReplyDeleteIt turned out great!
ReplyDeleteI love this technique and your card turned out great. I love the numbers background! I can't wait to try this one out too!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card -- I love how you did this!!
ReplyDeleteI had the same issue with my background color. I just didn't have an ink in my Stacy that was light enough. Time for me to buy more, I guess. Your neon inks for the balloons are fantastic, by the way. I have to give that a try.
ReplyDeleteGreat card. I love seeing the background stamp used with other stamps.
