Boy oh boy I am having fun with all the Papertrey Ink Anniversary challenges. They are really getting my stamping mojo going. I am loving all the inspiration. On this card we were to add hearts - so I did. In a rainbow of colours - I stamped each heart with Background basics Chevron stripes; then I used Wonderful Words and Wonderful Word Additions for the sentiment. I love the way this cheery card turned out. TFL.

Hello Everyone,
I bought this Memory Box Window Die a while ago and have been "dying" (pun intended) to use it. I love this floral stamp set by Maile Belles for PTI: Gracious Vases. It is so elegant and versatile. Anyway, I cased this card by Heather Nichols. I used the wood sheets from SU to make the window and embossed the Cherry Cobbler background with the stripes EF to give the texture of siding. I love the simplicity of this card - it really was easy to put together and I think it would be suitable for a variety of sentiments. The flowers are for the Paper Players challenge this week and the red for the PPA challenge this week. TFL.

It was a quiet day at home yesterday, so my creative juices were flowing. I made this card for the Pals Paper Arts challenge this week. I used Wonderful Words dies and Additions from PTI. I am also loving the nesting Hearts that SU has come out with. At first I wasn't going to get them because I don't like to buy things that are too holiday specific, but I am using them all over the place. The "forever" was a little finicky to adhere, but having done it once, I think it will be easier to reproduce. TFL.

Happy Anniversary PTI: Casing Dawn McVey

Okay here is my second card for the Design Team Inspiration challenge over on Nichole Heady's blog. I have been following Dawn McVey for a couple of years now - I check her blog religiously everyday to get inspiration. So today I have used Turning a New Leaf for the leaves (go figure) and the background. I saw this rolled flower and found a tutorial - it is so easy to do. You can see the tutorial here. The sentiment is from Maile Belles' Gracious Vases stamp set. I have stayed with the colour scheme that Dawn used, but used Stampin' Up's label for the Flower mat. TFL.

Hello Everyone,
I was doing a little blog-hopping, when I hopped to Nicole Heady's blog and was excited to see that Papertrey ink is celebrating an anniversary: 5 years! That's huge. I just made my first PTI purchases this year, although I have long-admired their products. My husband gave me a PTI gift card and I was hooked. I have a few sets of stamps and some of their dies. My favourite designers for PTI are Maile Belles and Dawn McVey. Nicole has put together the most amazing give-away over on her blog, and while I won't hold my breath I am entering this card to have a chance to win. You really have to go check it out. I have chosen to case this card by Maile Belles. I love the CAS style. I switched it up a bit, but you can see the layout is all Maile. TFL.

Case Study Challenge 75

Hello Everyone,
I have long been an admirer of the Case Study challenges and finally feel confident enough in my own design to enter! I love this week's inspiration - it is so simple and elegant. The black and white focal image juxtaposed with the brightly coloured baker's twine is what I used for my inspiration. I recently ordered this Scootin By stamp set from the Sweet Stamp Shop and am just lovin' it. I have a little red/black electric scooter that I buzz to and from work on all spring, summer and fall (I am really missing it at the moment) - so when I saw this set, I just had to get it. I have paired up the black and white image with glitter rainbow stripes (scor-tape covered in glitter). I love the way it turned out - it is super-sparkly in real life. Somehow the camera just does not do it justice. Hope you like it!

CFC 37: Sketch Challenge

I am loving this little stamp set - it's called Scootin' By and is from Sweet Stamp Shop. I have a little red electric scooter, so when I saw this set, I knew I had to have it. I love this CAS-ual Friday sketch and the two (sketch and stamp) just seemed made for each other. I paper-pieced the body of the scooter with a retired Stampin' Up DSP - I don't remember the name. Last Post of the day: Clean and Simple Day Three

Okay,
Just one more technique I had to try before I packed up my crafts for the day - this one was creating a tone on tone look by using dies and creating multiple layers. I found this to be a bit time consuming and I also found it difficult to keep the layers lined up. I think in the future I would just cut one layer out of chip board and cover it with cardstock. That being said, I do like the way this card turned out. TFL.

Clean and Simple Card Class: Day Two (and one and five)

Hello Again,
This is my second post for the day, so if you didn't see the previous one scroll on down. As I mentioned previously I am taking an online Clean and Simple card class. I have finally found some time to day to try out some of the techniques they - Julie Ebersole, Kristina Werner, and Jennifer McGuire - are teaching us. So this card shows a couple of things. The main technique is for creating a one layer card. Julie Ebersole demonstrated that you can create a triangle with your images and sentiment to create balance - so that is how I decided the placement of the flowers and sentiment. Then on day five there was a link to her blog where Julie demo'd the technique of colouring directly on Kraft paper - I knew I had to try that. Also, on day one Kristina Werner showed us how hand drawing a faux frame could be used to create dimension. I love the way this card turned out - I am telling you these gals know what they are talking about. I would highly recommend this class.

Clean and Simple Card Class: Day Five

Hello Stampers,
I am thrilled to be taking an online Clean and Simple Card Class, but I am a little behind with trying all the great techniques I am learning! I get up first thing in the morning and check what new technique they have for us that day - unfortunately I have to then head off to work! It was a busy week, so I didn't really get any stamping done - until today that is. So the first technique I wanted to try was from Friday's class - watercolour blocking. I did it two ways; the "Sending you Thoughts and Prayers" card is a direct case from the one demo'd for us in class. The "Praying For You" card I used the same technique but masked off the card front to create a grass and sky background for my tree image. I am pleased with the way they both turned out. I was having difficulty photographing them - they look so much better in real life. TFL - I am heading back to the craft room to try another technique.

I am thrilled to be taking the online Clean and Simple Class. Today's class focused on clean and simple sketches with Kristina Werner and Maile Belles creating cards as inspiration. Kristina's sketch focused on a onelayer card that uses a faux frame made by a background stamp as a way of creating dimension. Maile's card focused on using the negative die cut to create dimension on a CAS card. I loved both sketches. I cased Maile's card pretty directly, but played a little with Kristina's sketch. TFL.

PPA 126 and Paper Players 77: New Memory Box Dies ... I think I am in Love!

Hello Stampers,
I have just discovered Memory Box dies and am in love. The range of designs, their intricacy and the ease with which they cut make them a must have. Much to my delight, my local craft store here in Ottawa - Heather's Stamping Haven - now carries them! I used the arboscello tree to make this card. It follows the Pals Paper Arts colour challenge this week: Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze, and Very Vanilla. Since I knew it was going to be a valentine, and since the colour "models" on the PPA blog have red lipstick, I felt adding a touch of red wasn't really breaking the rules! It also fits the theme challenge on the Paper Players Blog this week: All You Need is Love. To create the shadow for the tree, I first cut it out in NQN, and then in BBreeze and layered the two. CAS-ual Friday CFC 34: Chipboard

I have long admired the cards designed for CAS-ual Friday Challenges and have finally decided to play along. This week's challenge is to use chipboard. Yesterday I made some home-made chipboard heart embellishments with my heart nesties; so I took one of these and sponged it with some Melon Mambo. It is the perfect touch for this card. The stamp set I used is Modern Basics by Maile Belles. If you haven't already check out her blog - she has some amazing designs. This week's challenge at Pals Paper Arts is a colour challenge: Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy and Very Vanilla. Well seeing as I am not quite ready to put away my Papertrey Ink "Modern Basics" stamp set by Maile Belles - I decided to use it for this challenge. I cased this card by Maile. I think this design lends itself well in the blue PPA colour scheme. Maile has a very good photo tutorial which shows how to easily build this pattern. Colour Q: Inukshuk Love!

Hello Everyone,
I have been playing with my new toys from Papertrey Ink. I got this stamp set, Modern Basics by Maile Belles, with an order I placed for my birthday. I love this set - it is clean and simple and incredibley versatile. I actually used it for some Christmas cards too! I saw the Colour Q challenge: Cool Caribbean, Calypso Coral, Cherry Cobbler, and Pear Pizzazz and thought I would give it a try. Apart from Cherry Cobbler, this combo had me stumped. Then I saw a picture of an Inukshuk and this pattern popped into my head. I sustituted Pool Party for Cool Caribbean and Lucky Limeade for Pear Pizzazz; I think the colour combo works well in this more masculine valentine's love note. Hope you like it - TFL.

In March I entered a Pals Paper Arts colour challenge and was one of the Artists' Pick of the week. Well now the same project has been selected as a Best-Dressed of the Year! I am amazed at how excited I am by this - woohoo. This was a project I got from Andrea Walford - she and her sister are amazing paper-crafters; definitely check out their Papercrafters' Library. Obviously entering the Paper Players challenge twice wasn't enough - I had to go for the Trifecta. I bought this stamp at a local crafting store called Heather's Stamping Haven. This stamp is by the Stamp Barn which is a local stamp company. It reminds me of a typical Canadian winter country scene. I was checking out PTI's Make it Monday video and learned how to do a masked glitter background. It creates such a gorgeous effect and is super-easy, once you know what you are doing. You should check it out. So, When I saw that this week's Pals Paper Arts challenge was puttin' on the ritz - I knew I had to try this technique. I used a nestability Snowflake to create the mask and went crazy with the purple and silver glitter. This card sparkles like there is no tomorrow in real life. Anyway, thanks for stopping by.

Hello Stampers,
I saw this die at Heather's Stamping Haven here in Ottawa and just loved the whimsical simplicity of it. I am loving these flat steel dies - they are so easy to use and store. This particular die is from a company in the Netherlands called Marianne Designs. I think what appealed to me most about this tree is that the shape of it reminds me of the silhouette of a fir tree with big pillows of snow on the branches. Anyway, I cased this card from Christina at My Paper Secret. I loved the simple cheeriness of the card. I used Old Olive, and Certainly Celery for the trees and the sentiment is from "Curly Cute" stamp set. Hope you like it.

Christmas Wine Tag

Hello Everyone,
I recently ordered some things from Papertreyink for the first time - I can tell you it won't be the last; the quality of their dies and stamps is exceptional. I got this wine tag die and am loving it. This is a tag I designed using the Wonderful Words stamp set and Holiday Die collection. The little holly leaves were made with a Cheery Lynn die and the Berries were punched with a single hole punch and glitter foam I got at the $ store. Easy and what a great way to dress up a bottle of wine.

When I saw this week's Paper Players Challenge, I knew I had to enter. I haven't blogged in awhile. Life this school year has been much busier and while I am still crafting away, I have not posted anything. So, here it goes. I finally broke down and purchased a few things from Papertrey Ink. I love their thin dies and they make the snowy hills on this card so easy. Of course I had to use my new favourite holiday set "Christmas Lodge". Ironically, when I first saw this set, it did nothing for me. Then I saw the cards people were creating with it and knew that I had to have it. It has been one of my best-sellers at classes and workshops too. I hope you like the card - it was inspired by many in the gallery at splitcoaststampers, so go check it out and get casing!

Out of Nowhere

Hello Everyone,
This card really seemed to come out of nowhere. The pink pirouette frame was a cut out I did with my silhouette - I just wanted to see what it would look like and decided a soft pink would be pretty. Then I thought the cut was so intricate and beautiful it didn't need an image - maybe just a sentiment. This one from Word Play looked like the perfect match and I decided to stamp it with melon mambo - then I thought that a melon mambo background would offset the soft pink perfectly. I had this pre-cut in my stash and was going to trim down the excess, but decided to run a ribbon strip along it instead. This morning as I blog-hopped, I came across Papertrey Ink's make it Monday video on Nicole Heady's blog - this showed how you could use copic's to create stripes on plain ribbon. I have some copics, but none that seemed to fit the emerging colour scheme, so I decided just to try my melon mambo stampin' write marker. Well that worked out perfectly! I still thought the main panel looked like it needed something more, when I spied a felt flower I had rolled for another project, but never used - it looked bare on its own and lo and behold in my scrap basket were some extra toppers from this project - perfect leaves! So on it went; I mounted it all on a Whisper White base and voila! I love the way it turned out - the card that came out of nowhere! TFL.

Bargello - Finally tried it!

Well I saw this Bargello technique a while ago on Splitcoast and decided it might be a neat technique to do with my club ladies. I used the tutorial on Splitcoast and found it to be quite easy to follow. I decided to pick a straight forward pattern for the paper (In Colours DP); I used Blushing Bride, Poppy Parade, and Concord Crush - I am pleased with the way it turned out. I will definitely do this one at club.

Tryin' to get my mojo back

I have been feeling quite blah lately and seem to have lost my stamping mojo - so today Idecided to make a concerted effort to get it back by doing some direct casing of cards. I have not really used my new delicate doilies set, so I decided to ink that up. These cards are the result. The first card I cased from this one at Jen's Ink Spot. I love the way it turned out. The other two I cased from splitcoaststampers - here and here. I also love the way these cards turned out. They were all fairly quick and easy too. I have a feeling that is going to become a real go-to set.

PPA 101: Summer Blues with a little silver too!

My husband is turning the big "50" on Monday and we will be at sea on a wonderful Caribbean cruise. This is why I have the cruise ship motif for his card. I made this with my silhouette sd - I love this machine, as the possibilities are endless. I used Not Quite Navy, Bashful Blue and Marina Mist which fit the PPA colour challenge this week. Ilove the way it turned out - I am sure he is going to love it too. Thanks for looking.

Treat Bags and More...

I was having some of my gal pals over for a girls' night in and decided that I would do loot bags; I am a member at the Paper Crafter's Library (PCL) run by the amazing Amanda Walford and her sister Sofia - they posted a tutorial on how to make these great little gift bags; they are so easy and what a great way to use up straggle sheets of DSP. These were a perfect fit for my loot bags - I filled them with a little notebook holder, some chocolate, emery boards, and personalized coasters. They loved them. The one I have pictured here is for my best friend who had a terrible week; clearly a terrible week deserves a little treat. I had so much fun putting them together. PPA 97 First Communion Card

A while ago I saw this idea on this blog posting. I loved the idea, but did not have the occasion to use it - until now. My neighbour's daughter is receiving her first communion today and I wanted to make her a card. This cross immediately jumped into my brain. I love the way this card turned out. I Love my new Silhouette!

Hello Stampers,
See that beautiful Daisy Lace on my card - it took a long time to cut by hand. Not! It took just a couple of minutes with the Silhouette SD - my new best friend! I have been eyeing this machine for awhile and man am I glad I finally caved. It does the most intricate cutting and instead of buying cartridges, you simply download the images from their online store. If you are super-talented you can design your own images to print or cut or both! I just love it. Over the next few days I will be posting more projects. I have a feeling I will not be buying dies etc... very often anymore. Most of the images you can download are $ 0.99 - pretty inespensive compared to buying dies. You can download the software free in order to check out their image store. I am so pleased - as if you couldn't tell. TFL.

They are so super-easy and can be done in a variety of mediums - I have made them in felt, foam, and cardstock; felt is my favourite, but the others are fun too. I just discovered the blog My Pink Mexico and have been doing some casing! Today's card is one I cased from this card. These are not normally colours I would choose, but something about this card just caught my interest. I don't have the Fabulous Florets stampset, but did get the brush set for My Digital Studio - I think it is too much like Fifth Avenue Floral. I created the background on MDS and printed it. I also did a sheet of the flower that I cut out - I did them in all different colours and will cut them out and use them in later projects. I like the way it turned out. TFL.

PPA 95: CAS with Brads - Look Familiar?

Hello Stampers,
You may recognize this card from Tuesday's post - can you spot the difference? Instead of the buttons and pearls I used on the last card, I used brads in order to play along with Pals Paper Arts. I love these challenges. I have to admit I think I like the brads better than the buttons and pearls. I had to take this picture in low light, so it looks like Very Vanilla, but it is in fact Whisper White and PPoint. I love the little rose made using the Sizzix 3-d Flower die - they are much easier to roll in felt than they are in paper. What do you think - buttons and pearls or the simplicity of brads? Another Hybrid card

I am really enjoying making hybrid cards. I made this one by printing the background DSP from MDS - it is one of the patterns found in the Beyond the Garden DSP. I used the sentiment from Word Play; I waited awhile to get this set, and I am loving it. I made the rose from some felt I got at another craft store - the die cut I used is the Sizzix 3-d Flower die; I love this die. I used the Pacific Point buttons and put some basic pearls in the centers. I am really thrilled with the way this card turned out. TFL.

Hybrid Cards

Hello Stampers,
It has been awhile; I really admire those of you who manage to post everyday - it really is a lot of work and a real commitment. This is a hybrid card I made. I cased a couple of different cards - you can find them here and here. I will be doing this card at my next club meeting. I want to show how easy it is to use MDS to create background papers on which you can stamp. I wasn't thrilled with the stamp selection in the Summer Mini - so I didn't order any. I did order a couple for MDS though (Open Sea and Fabulous Florets). I have also started doing this with designer papers too. I find that in each pack of designer paper there are always pages I don't like and never use. Ordering these through MDS allows me to save money and to simply print/use the deisgns I do like. Long time no Blog! PPA 89

Hello Everyone,
Spring is definitely here - we have been experiencing lots of April rain in my neck of the woods. I finally got a chance to play with some of my Summer Mini Catalogue sneak peaks - the triple layer flower punch! I love it. In this card I combined it with the inlaid embossing technique and I think it is a wonderful combination. This is a simple layout, but simply changing up the colour combo you can create a bunch of different looks. This week Pals Paper Arts is featuring a spring flower theme challenge, so I thought this card would be perfect.

Wow! Two Post in one day! Time to play Paper Players #37

Hello Again,
When I saw that the Paper Players Challenge this week was spring themed, Awash with Flowers immediately sprung to mind. I love this stamp set and have not used it in awhile. I decided to keep it pink and simple. I stamped the flower outlines with Melon Mambo and used Pink Pirouette to fill them in. I also christened my new Spellbinders Impressibility plate - got to say I love it. I thought this card looked fresh and Eastery, so I added the Easter sentiment from the Well-Scripted ... I wish this set had not retired as I love the swirly script and the variety of sentiments. The rhinestone is coloured with a pink copic - I am not that you can see it in the photo, but it does have a light pink hue to it in real life. It was fun to make a simple card. TFL.

SR #62 Happy St. Patrick's Day

Hello Everyone,
I saw this great card on Sandi MacIver's blog and immediately downloaded the free tutorial to make it. I knew it would be a perfect St. Patty's Day card for my parents. It took me awhile to get around to making it, but I am so pleased with the results. I changed things up a bit - made it an easel card and used a Hero Arts Shamrock as the central image. It didn't start out as glittery as it ended up - but I like it! The lattice die definitely has a real celtic flair to it. The green glitter paper is from that fab big box crafting store. I bought a whole bunch in all different colours when they were having a buy-one-get-one. I think this is perfect for the Stampin Royalty challenge this week. Anyway, thanks for looking.

Long Time No Post and PPA 83 Colour Challenge

Well Hello Everyone,
I apologize for the long absence - I have been creating, but for some reason have not gotten around to posting things; but that is all about to change. When I saw that the Pals Paper Arts colour challenge was featuring Baja Breeze, Soft Suede and Crumb Cake I knew that I had to post this project I made recently. I love it. I got the idea from the wonderfully talented Andrea Walford. If you go to her blog and subscribe to her Sunny Stampin' Ideas newsletter, she will send you these great project ideas every two weeks - complete with pdf tutorial -amazing. This tea holder was one of the projects from the newsletter. This tutorial is also available on her wonderful new website Paper Crafters' Library - it is worth every penny of the subscription fee. The tutorial was very easy to follow and I felt this project was perfect for the stamp set Morning Cup. The flower on the top was made from the two step owl punch - it was a tutorial I found here at Valita's Fresh Folds. PPA 79: Certainly Celery, Rich Razzleberry, Riding Hood Red

Hello Everyone,
This week PPA has given us a colour challenge: certainly celery, ridinghood red, and rich razzleberry. This was a challenge until this card popped into my head! I love the vintage old world charm this colour combo has when paired with Crumb Cake. I must admit that I used Pear Pizzazz seam binding instead of certainly celery, as I just love the suppleness of the seam binding. I used the sizzix 3-D flower die to make the flowers - it definitely takes practice, but once you get the rolling down they are really quick to put together and look fabulous - if I do say so myself. I used both Ridinghood Red and Rich Razzleberry to make the largest flower. It may be hard to see the two colours in the photo, but in real life it looks quite striking. I haven't inked up my Oval All set in awhile and think this sentiment fits, especially with the sray of flowers. Thanks for checking out my creation. Let me know what you think!

PPA 78 Owls, Ribbon, and Bows - Oh My!

For a long time I resisted investing in ribbon, thinking it made cards too fussy. Obviously, I have changed my mind. Sometimes ribbon just adds that perfect element. I don't usually do the ruffled look, but was casing this beautiful card and decided to give it a try. I love the way things turned out. I changed a couple of things up - adding the bow and the little hearts. The bow is in accordance with this week's PPA 78 challenge. I also used glimmer paper instead of the Baja Breeze chunky glitter. I don't have the glitter and found this glimmer paper at the big box craft store - I think it is a perfect match with Baja Breeze. It still amazes me that when I was first introduced to Baja Breeze I didn't like it at all; my how things have changed - it is now one of my favourite colours. I am not sure how CAS this card is, but there is no real stamping (does the letterpress count?), and it was actually really easy to put together. I used shimmer versamark to ink up the letterpress and then embossed it in clear EP. I am not sure if the picture shows the slight shimmer in the letters, but it is there in real life. TFL. I decided to go ahead and make my husband's Valentine's Day Card. After getting the beautiful glimmer paper from SU! I saw that the big box craft store had the same paper in a variety of different and fabulous colours - so I immediately bought a bunch. The lattice is cut from black glimmer paper and is really striking in real life. I am also pleased with the contrast of textures on this card; I like that it has flash and sparkle, but still maintains its masculinity. At first I was scratching my head, and then this card came to me. It is a little "Warholesque", but I like the way it turned out. Birthday Bonanza

I have another card to post. This one is for my Birthday Bonanza class - we will be making some birthday cards. This is my masculine card selection. I cased it from this card. As you can see I changed it up a little. I love this embossed effect. I did all the stripes, then ran it through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice EF. I love this technique because it makes stripes looked stamped or embedded in the paper. I did this with a Christmas card, using a snowflake. Anyway I think it is a simple and effective technique. Hope you like it!

Valentine's Class

Boy it sure doesn't take long to let a resolution fall by the wayside! I had said in my previous post that I was going to try to stay on top of posting by doing at least 3 a week. That worked out well - but then again this is a new week and there is lots of time to do three posts. I guess I enjoy surfing other people's posts more than spending the few minutes it takes to put my own together! Well, I have a couple of classes coming up and some challenges I would like to enter, so here I am posting. These two cards are for my upcoming "Love Letters" class. We will be making valentines of every kind. The "Pink Sparkler" - as I like to call it - I cased from the amazing Northshore Stamper. I changed it up a little bit, since I don't have the red glitter paper that is in SU!'s new mini-catalogue. I did however happened to stop at a big box crafting store and buy all kinds of other colours of glitter paper (currently 2 for 1). I stamped the bottom of the card base with crumb cake and the En Francais, then tied some of the delicious new crumb cake seam binding (occasions mini) around it, layered the heart and Voila!
The second card I used the new letterpress from SU! It says to use craft ink, but this is inked up with Melon Mambo classic ink and I think it turned out just fine. I punched a hole with my 1" circle punch in one of the O's and backed it with turquoise glitter and then popped a small punched pink glitter heart in the centre. I love the way it turned out.

Stacey's Stamping Stage Curtain Call Act 62Two-Step Owl - What a HOOT!

Happy Holidays everyone. Now that the New Year is approaching, I have made my first non-Christmas card! It felt great! I eyed this cute little owl, for a long time. Finally, I purchased him last month and this is the first time I've used him. I just love his look. He is a little finnicky to work with, but I am sure with time I will get faster. I needed a Thank You card for our friends who looked after Phat Cat while we were away in Florida. So I cased this card. I also drew some inspiration from Curtain Call Act 62 . I added my own little twist of Megness - the lettering is from a sizzlets die I bought a while ago and had yet to use. The branch on the inside is another sizzlets die that I got at Joann's while I was in Florida - I love the prices at that store - I bought this die for $7.99 and I got a set of nesties (classic scallop circles small) for 17.49 - they are 29.99 here! Using dies is so easy and always adds that extra detail that makes people say: "Wow!". Gotta love it. TFL.

HI Everyone,

I have been negligent for a long time - my apologies. Since the new school year started, I have not had the same time or motivation to keep posting. This is an early New Year's Resolution - to post three times a week or more. I mean really - in the end, it takes about fifteen minutes and I think it is time well-spent. So today I am posting a card for the PPA72: Winter White. Winter is my favourite season; having been born and raised in Ottawa - our wonderful snowy capital - you learn very early on to embrace winter. So for this card I layered white on white with a little gold and a little glitteriness thrown in! The snowflake is a sizzix die, and I used the Petals a Plenty EF to add a bit of texture. The snowflake is embossed with irridescent ice EP and is very sparkly in real life. The sentiment is from the retired SU set Peaceful Wishes - I sold a lot of my retired sets, but this one I wanted to hang onto. TFL

I know it is still a ways away, but it is never too early to start stamping Christmas cards. This year I am really trying to keep my cards simple and easy to produce. I cased this card by Teneale Williams - I just loved the soft vintage look of it. Lovely as a Tree is probably my favourite stamp set. Each year SU! comes out with a new cattie, I am worried Lovely as a Tree will retire - it is the one set, retired or not - I will never part with. My other card, I cased from somewhere, but I can't remember where. I tried to look for it in the blogosphere, but to no avail. The original had used a different sentiment and a different bird image, but the basic layout is the same. Very easy to make. TFL.

Hi Everyone,
Today I head back for my first day of the school year. The students are not in until Tuesday next week, but we teachers have meetings and PD all day today. Each year I get myself a new notebook to record planning and ideas etc... This year was no different; I love my pilgrimage to Staples, I love wandering up and down the aisles, and I love looking at all the new designs of notebooks - I take my time choosing which one will hold my thoughts for the year. This time out I chose a plain black spiral book and altered the cover. Who can resist the delicious Elegant Soiree DSP from SU! I love the way my notebook turned out and I can't wait to put pen to paper!

Curtain Call Colour Challenge 45

Curtain Call Act 44

Hi All,
I am once again taken with the colour challenge from Stacey's Stamping Stage: Curtain Call Act 44. The colour combo this week is tempting turquoise, daffodil delight, poppy parade, and whisper white. I saw this pyramid card over on Darlene McCallum's blog and that was my inspiration. I decided to use my Fresh Cuts stamp set - I love this set, but don't ink it up enough. I stamped the main image four times: twice in daffodil delight, once in turquoise, and once in poppy parade. I cut them all the same size (3.25x3); for each layer on top of the base I took off quarter inch increments; so, the turquoise layer was 2.75x2.5. I love the layered look of this effect. Neat little trick and it makes a cool-looking note card. TFL.

The "Day" version is simple and straightforward, while the "Evening" version can have layers and bling to jazz things up a bit. I chose a Christmas Card I made with the new "Bells and Boughs" set in the forthcoming Holiday Mini Catalogue. This was really fun. On the right we have my day card. Pretty simple and straight forward. On the left, is my evening card - jazzed up with satin ribbon, rhinestones, and chunky glitter! I loved this challenge.

A Christmas Card Sneak Peek and PPA Surprise

Hello All,
I will start with the PPA surprise. When I got up this morning, I checked my email - as is my routine - and to my delight I had an email from the team at Pals Paper Arts! I was chosen as one of the picks of the week! Yahoo! I so admire their work, it is a real honour to be chosen by them. That is why I get the cool badge in my sidebar! Now on to my card.

I cased this card by the very talented SleepyinSeattle. I had a lot of fun with it. The stamp is larger than an A2 card front, so I trimmed it down a bit. It was very simple, but I think really effective. The sponging around the edge is done with So Saffron and Pumpkin Pie classic inks. TFL.

PPA54 - A Masculine KISS

At first this PPA Challenge had me a little stumped and then I thought of this card. I had purchased some roof flashing to make tea light holders and still had some leftover - I can't think of a more masculine material than roof flashing! Since the challenge is to keep it simple I tried not to embellish too much. One little tip - I put scor-tape on the back of the flashing before running it through the Big Shot so that the lattice would be self-adhesive. TFL.

Pals Paper Arts 53: Ode to Purple

I have always loved the colour purple, so when I saw that the PPA 53 was a purple colour challenge, I was excited. All kinds if ideas ran through my head, so I may have to make more than one entry. In the end I decided to case a card I made before. I cased the original from Jo-Anne Pullen's work. I did the original in Baja Breeze and Very Vanilla, but a change to Concord Crush and Whisper White makes a striking difference - I think I prefer the stranger colours, as they suit my colour palette more. The embossed background was done with a home-made texture plate. I first saw this idea on Splitcoast and was referred to Dawn Olchefsky's blog for the tutorial. TFL.

Hello All,

Today I made this cute little 3x3 note and matchbook holder. I used the colour scheme in this week's Curtain Call Colour Challenge. I saw the tutorial for this matchbook holder and note card on Becky Roberts' blog. If you haven't been by to check out her work - go right now! She has some amazing tutorials and they are always easy to follow! She has this great tutorial for little purse gift boxes that are just adorable - I have made one, but will post later. TFL.

Happy Monday Everyone,

Well I got my workout, and chores done this morning, so I decided to spend the afternoon making cards. Here is my card for this week's Mojo Monday Sketch. I got Stampin' Up's lattice die recently and have been hanging onto all the little bits; they are great to use make a multi-patterned lattice card or in this case to make a flower! TFL!

Christmas in July

Yup, it is that time of year again! Last year by the time Holiday season was over, I was relieved to be making cards for birthdays etc... However, when the new SU! cattie came, the first thing I did was check out the new Christmas sets. There are a few I want, but haven't bitten the bullet yet; instead I surprised myself and got an "oldie but a goodie" - the adorable "Holiday Line-up". I don't know what it is about these goofy reindeer, snowmen, and elves, but they are too cute to resist. Here are the first two cards. Both were cased from Splitcoast. My reindeer card I cased directly from this card and my Elves were cased from this card.

Curtain Call Colour Challenge Act 39

Hi again,
I decided that this summer I would try to enter a different challenge each day; yesterday I did Mojo Monday and today I am entering the Curtain Call Colour Challenge. The challenge is to use whisper white, certainly celery, wild wasabi and crumb cake. This was a real challenge, as I don't use green a whole lot. This is what popped into my head; it is a 4x4 note for my mom. TFL.

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to my blog; it seems hard to believe that anyone will actually read this, but that certainly won't stop me. I will be posting my paper creations here and hope that you enjoy them. Please feel free to comment, as I love the feedback!

This is a card that I made yesterday for the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenges; this is my first entry into this challenge, and at first I was a little trepidatious! This is a popular challenge - there are so many entries that are totally amazing. At any rate, I bit the bullet, printed off the sketch design, and sat down to create.

I decided to keep the colour scheme simple as the sketch design is more elaborate than one I would create on my own. I love Tempting Turquoise and wanted to pair that with red - I decided to stay away from my go-to reds and chose the poppy parade - a red I am not loving just yet. I wanted to use my Playful Pieces stamp set and thought the Dragonfly pieces should work. It looks simple, but that little bug took me eight tries! The flowers were created with my Boho Blossoms punch; I used my large and small circle nesties for the circles. My square lattice embossing folder helped me add a bit of texture.

Overall I am pleased with the card - I hope you like it too! Have a wonderful day!
